Issue #6 March 17, 2009 The Number One Reason to Homeschool By: Davis Carman I hope the following "top ten" list gives you a reason to smile. These may not be actual reasons that families choose to homeschool, but they sure are some of the real life benefits you can enjoy. Drum roll please.
ApologiaLive Conference for Homeschool Moms The first ApologiaLive conference for homeschool moms is now history. Two hundred women from 16 states worshipped Christ, celebrated the homeschool journey, and spent a weekend being affirmed and encouraged. Five veteran homeschool moms spoke on various aspects of "Walking in the Light." Debra Bell opened the conference with a message centered on a walk in the light of His grace. Sally Clarkson concluded Friday night focusing on a walk in the light of His joy. Elizabeth Smith started Saturday morning with a walk in the light of His wisdom, followed by Zan Tyler with an intent look at a walk in the light of His Word. Rachael Carman wrapped things up with an inspiring charge to walk in the light of His plan everyday. Listen to what attendees had to say:

Resources for Life and Homeschool Exploring Creation with Biology by Marilyn Durnell and Dr. Jay Wile is one of the most popular science texts offered by Apologia. This text is a college-prep course that provides a detailed introduction to the methods and concepts of general biology. Heavily emphasizing the vocabulary of biology, it provides the student with a strong background in the scientific method, the five-kingdom classification scheme, microscopy, biochemistry, cellular biology, molecular and Mendelian genetics, evolution, dissection, and ecosystems. It also provides a compete survey of the five kingdoms in creation. Click here to order this curriculum for your homeschool. Apologia Speakers on the Road March is when the state homeschool convention season begins in earnest. We hope to see you at a conference sometime this year. Here is a list of the places Apologia will be in the coming weeks.
