Christmas is like a season within a season and is my favorite time of year, despite the cold weather. (I can get a chill when the temperature dips below 70.) Now that we’ve arrived at another Christmas season, I once again find that I am not where I wanted to be at this point in our school year. I am pulled between enjoying the season and obsessing over school. It is an old temptation and one I keep thinking I have finally mastered before the feelings come flooding back. I know this season will pass in only a couple of weeks—not nearly enough time for me to catch up on everything I need to get done. It is hard to simply exhale and let my mind, body, and soul rest in celebration.
For this reason, I want to share with you some encouragement for this special time of the year. Let’s put worksheets aside for Him who is called Wonderful Counselor. Let’s be willing to delay English for the Everlasting Father. Let’s put a hold on math to focus on Almighty God. Let us pause to ponder the homeschool journey and lay our lesson plans before the Prince of Peace. ...
