Math Picture Book Suggestions
Math picture books are an easy way to add some life and color to any math lesson. Simply work these into your homeschool schedule by adding them to your morning routine or right before you begin a new lesson. Either way, math picture books can increase interest in a new concept and excite your visual learners.
Benefits of Incorporating Math Picture Books
Typically, math can be a tough subject for parents to teach and also for students to love. In the younger years, math picture books can build an early positive relationship with math concepts through storytelling. They can reduce anxiety around the topic of math early on. While children are being drawn into the pages, they are simultaneously processing computations.
The colorful counting and meaningful equations hold more purpose in a story versus numbers on a page. Seeing visual images of representation can aid with making sense of more abstract ideas. Early readers, especially, tend to incorporate rhyme and prose, which can add an element of predictability.

Exploring Creation with Mathematics
Searching for a math curriculum as delightful as math picture books? Dive into Apologia’s homeschool math curriculum with short, hands-on lessons and an open-and-go approach. This elementary math homeschooling curriculum is intentionally designed to help your child unlock the power of numbers and build a strong foundation so they can have math confidence.
I stumbled on your new math a few weeks ago and have been using Math 4 with one of my other children. I’ve homeschooled for 20 years, and this has been one of my favorite finds. I’ve always loved the concrete-pictorial-abstract progression, but only found it in programs that were too cumbersome to teach to multiple children at different levels. Your new math seems to have the perfect balance of parent involvement and independent work, and the kids are actually understanding how the math works. I’m so impressed, and my kids are loving it, too!! Thank you for producing such a great product!
Our elementary math curriculum builds mastery of math concepts with built-in spiral review to set a strong foundation for young learners. Discover why homeschool moms and kids are raving about Apologia’s elementary math series.
