Live Classes Terms and Conditions

I understand that I must agree to the following Terms and Conditions before registering for Apologia Live Classes:

Homeschooling Legalities

  • It is my responsibility (parent/family) to ensure that we are legally homeschooling in the appropriate state or country where we reside.
  • Apologia Live Classes is not a school. My homeschool is a legal and authorized school, and I, the parent, am the administrator.
  • Apologia Live Classes is a resource available to autonomous homeschool institutions, but it is not an organization that oversees my homeschool.
  • Apologia does not provide transcripts or certifications or fill out NCAA documentation.
  • Apologia Live Classes is not a tutoring program.
  • Apologia does not provide private information on our teachers other than their instructor bios.

Communication

  • I understand that students’ and parents’ full contact information must be provided at registration.
  • Teachers will contact parents occasionally via email. You can request a phone conference from your teacher. Teachers also report all classroom activities, assignments, tests, quizzes, etc., to the parent via the student portal and provide numeric grade suggestions based on this activity. Parents can then use any letter grade conversion system they wish for their family homeschool transcripts.
  • Each student must have an accurate email address and must be unique from the parent’s email address.
  • The student’s email address must be current. I understand I should contact liveclasses@apologia.com and my students’ teachers if the email address changes.
  • I understand that all email lists are confidential and the sole property of Apologia. Email addresses and communications will not be shared outside of Apologia, sold, or given to other companies.

Class Duration

  • I understand that classes run for approximately one day per week for 60-90 minutes, except for math classes, which meet for 45 minutes twice per week. These times are approximate. If students do not ask many questions on a particular day, a class may run shorter.
  • I understand that occasionally teachers may go over the normal class time. In this case, students may leave if they have other responsibilities. Students will be expected to watch the recording of the remaining minutes of class at a later time.
  • Class start and end dates vary. Students will receive a class syllabus and exact dates from their instructor after registration.
  • Apologia reserves the right to adjust class duration times and dates based on the wisdom and discernment of the teacher.

Class Etiquette

  • I will make sure my student behaves in a courteous manner during class. This includes exhibiting proper etiquette in the chat box, respecting the instructors, and using godly integrity in completing assignments, taking tests, and sharing information.
  • My family understands we should not share tests, assignments, or other coursework outside of Apologia. This includes posting to Quizlet and other online study sites. Students found posting or stealing tests in this manner or engaging in other forms of cheating, such as plagiarizing, will be dismissed from Apologia Live Classes without a refund.

Parental Involvement

  • I understand that I am to assume primary responsibility for my student’s education.
  • I will ensure that my student attends class, keeps assignment deadlines, takes quizzes and tests, interacts during live sessions, communicates with the teacher, and makes up assignments when sick or traveling.
  • I will make sure my student behaves in a courteous manner during class. This includes exhibiting proper etiquette in the chat box, respecting the instructors, and using Godly integrity in completing assignments, taking tests, and sharing information.
  • I understand that all communication is sent to both the parent’s email address and the student’s email address. I will make sure my student is responding to all communication in a timely manner. As the administrator of my school, this is my responsibility, not the Apologia teachers.
  • I will keep track of my student’s numeric grades and regularly print them from the Apologia student portal. I understand that all numeric grades, assignments, and other portal information are erased 2-4 weeks after the close of the school year, and I must retrieve them before this. It is the family homeschool that will convert the numeric grades to letter grades.
  • I understand that I am responsible for issuing my transcripts and report cards and that Apologia is not a school that provides such documentation.

Technology

  • I understand that Apologia Live Classes does not allow the chat box and student webcams to be recorded. Students can see these live but not in the recordings. The teachers will read the questions in the chat box so recorded/graded students do not miss out on these questions.
  • Since Apologia depends on technology for a quality educational experience, I agree to keep browsers, software, and other computer components updated, and I will quickly attend to technical difficulties.
  • I understand that Apologia does not allow registrants to have dial-up or other slow connections.
  • I understand that I must test my connection to see if my student can view Live Classes efficiently and successfully with Zoom.
  • I understand that if I am aware of a slow or inefficient internet connection and still register for classes, Apologia cannot be responsible for a refund later.

Time Zone

  • I understand all classes are taught in the Eastern Time Zone (ET).

Registration Policies

  • I understand that registering for classes is a contract between my family and Apologia. My student is placed on the class roster, income is committed to that teacher, and my student is assured a spot in the class.
  • I agree to procure all required books and materials for each registered class. Textbooks published by Apologia can be purchased through apologia.com; links to purchase non-Apologia materials will be available in the student portal.
  • I understand that I can transfer my student to another available class if it is of equal value. Other fees will apply if classes have different costs.
  • I understand that Apologia Live Class registrations and payments cannot be transferred to other students, classes in a different school year, or to Self-Paced Courses, AutoGrade+, or other curriculum and course options.
  • I will not add my children to class waitlists unless I fully intend for them to take the classes if and when they become available.
  • I understand that Apologia Educational Ministries reserves the right to cancel registrations at will for bad conduct, inappropriate use of social media, overdue payments, or other issues important to maintaining excellence, integrity, and consistency with our educational, financial, and behavioral goals. A refund will be negotiable.

Payment Plans

I understand that I should email liveclasses@apologia.com to request a payment plan, and I agree to pay all payment installments in a timely manner:

  • A payment plan cannot be initiated or paid through the Apologia website.
  • For families on a payment plan, a $35 non-refundable registration fee will be charged per class seat. Classes paid in full will not incur a registration fee.
  • Payment plans are available from March 1st through June 15th, with the final balance due July 15th.
  • The first payment per class seat is paid at registration, with the remaining balance due in equal installments on the 15th of each remaining month. The balance will be paid in full by July 15th.
  • A monthly invoice will be sent to the parent’s email address a week before payments are due. Installment payments are taken over the phone.
  • Students will receive access to the Canvas student portal once classes are paid in full.
  • Parents should contact liveclasses@apologia.com for more information.

Refund Policy

I understand and agree to the following refund policy:

  • Refunds requested before August 1st: Full refund ($35 registration fee for a payment plan is non-refundable.)
  • August 1st to the day before classes begin: Total paid minus 30% ($35 registration fee for a payment plan is non-refundable.)
  • The week classes begin (beginning Monday and for the first 2 weeks only): Total paid minus 50% ($35 registration fee for the payment plan is non-refundable.)
  • After the 2nd week of classes, there are no refunds.
