• What grade levels are Apologia’s zoology courses designed for?

  All three zoology courses are written for elementary students in grades K–6.

• What is the difference between Zoology 1, 2, and 3?

  Each course focuses on a different category of animals:

  • Zoology 1: Birds, bats, and insects (Flying Creatures of the Fifth Day)
  • Zoology 2: Marine animals like whales, fish, sharks, and crustaceans (Swimming Creatures of the Fifth Day)
  • Zoology 3: Mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and more (Land Animals of the Sixth Day)

   

• When will Zoology 3, 2nd Edition be released?

  Our new edition of Zoology 3 will be available for purchase starting June 2.

• Should we complete Zoology 1 before Zoology 2 and Zoology 3?

  No. While they are part of a series, each zoology course is stand-alone and does not require previous study. You can start with whichever topic most interests your student.

• Are these full-year homeschool science courses?

  Yes! Each zoology course is designed as a full-year homeschool science curriculum, typically completed over 28 weeks with two lessons per week.

• Are these courses taught from a Biblical worldview?

  Absolutely. All of Apologia’s zoology courses are written from a Biblical worldview, highlighting God as the Creator and exploring animals in light of His design and purpose.

• Can Apologia's zoology curriculum be used in a homeschool co-op?

  Yes! Apologia’s science curriculum is a popular choice for homeschool co-ops and group settings. The hands-on experiments and discussion prompts work well in collaborative learning environments.

   

• What materials are needed to teach this course?

  The basic course materials include:

  • Textbook: Zoology 1, 2, or 3
  • Optional: Notebooking Journal
  • Optional: Audiobook version of the textbook, which is great for auditory learners

  A list of household supplies is available in the textbook to complete all the hands-on activities.

• Are there hands-on activities and experiments included?
