Award-Winning Homeschool High School Physics Curriculum

Exploring Creation with Physics has been voted the #1 homeschool physics curriculum for over 11 years in a row by homeschooling families. Because the science of physics is an attempt to explain everything that is observed in nature, this text is an overview of the advances made over the last three thousand years! And while that may seem like a monumental task, we’ve designed it to be not only homeschool-friendly but also college-prep.

We often associate the term science with specific scientific courses, but did you know that splitting science into specific divisions is, in fact, an artificial process? Because so much knowledge is already discovered, we divide that knowledge into comprehensible portions that we call courses. In reality, the entirety of scientific knowledge is interconnected.

In America, we structure the order of science courses based on math course prerequisites. Physics requires a student to have prior exposure to geometry, which is typically taken during the sophomore year of high school. Therefore, most students take physics in their junior year.

About Apologia's High School Physics Course

  • Topics Covered in this High School Physics Course

Some important concepts covered in Apologia’s high school physics include, but aren’t limited to:

    •  One and two-dimensional motion
    • Newton’s laws and their applications in nature
    • Work and energy
    • Electricity
    • Magnetism
    • Momentum,
    • Periodic motion
    • Waves
    • Optics

In this award-winning homeschool high school physics curriculum, we go into detail but use a conversational style of writing so that students feel as if they are participating in the learning process. When they are finished with the course, students will be able to do things such as:

    • Relate Velocity, Acceleration, Time, and Displacement
    • Use Mathematical Equations for One-Dimensional Motion
    • Understand and apply Newton’s Laws
    • Be able to see the strong connection between math and science
  • Physics Curriculum Details: Practice Problems, Review Questions, and Tests

Because math and science are strongly connected in a physics course, Apologia’s high school physics course includes:

    • On Your Own questions that students stop and answer while reading through their textbooks. This ensures that students comprehend the materials before moving forward. This is a critical step in understanding materials and building a strong foundation as new knowledge is gained.
    • Review Questions at the end of each module, which serves as a Study Guide for students studying for the provided module tests.
    • Additional study tools include Practice Problems and the Extra Practice Problems for each module. These are to be solved after each module and serve to give the student review and practice of the important quantitative skills just covered. These are also additional study tools for the module tests.

Two additional resources offered for added teacher/student support are a multi-media companion CD containing videos, word pronunciations, mathematics support, etc. specific to this course and the Apologia website providing links to additional websites for more in-depth exploration of the topics in the text.

  • Online Course Option

Apologia’s homeschool high school physics course is available to come alongside your homeschool through Apologia’s Live Online Classes. If your student would benefit from live instruction in an online classroom setting, check out the live and recorded options on the Apologia Online Academy site.

Hear What Our Students Are Saying

I would not have survived Organic Chemistry 1 and 2 and calculus-based Physics 1 and 2 in college without the Apologia Online Academy classes you taught. The concepts stuck with me. I wanted to thank you and tell you to keep up the good work!
