Apologia is a family-owned corporation, with Davis and Rachael Carman serving as the stewards since 2008. The Carman family lives in North Carolina, where they’ve enjoyed the homeschooling adventure of a lifetime with their seven children since 1996. As you can imagine, some days are marked by roller-coaster twists and turns, while others seem more like a welcome lazy river ride.
God blessed Davis and Rachael with seven children — two sons on the front end, two sons on the back end, and three girls tucked safely in the middle. All seven are young adults and earned college degrees in philosophy, politics, economics, art, math, missions, and psychology (one earned a PhD and another is currently in graduate school). Most importantly, they are all walking with the Lord (3 John 1:4). Their oldest son is married with four children and works as a professor at Regent University in Virginia. Their next son is married, has three children, and works as a freelance artist in Georgia. Currently, one of the Carman’s daughters is engaged to be married in 2026. Of the two married daughters, one has three children and lives in Ohio, while the other has two children and lives in Florida. The remaining two sons played soccer at the college level, and one of them is currently pursuing a master’s degree in applied math.
