6th Grade Curriculum Bundle
If you’re here, your student has entered the pre-teen years! Whether Apologia has been a staple in your home throughout the elementary years or you’re just looking into what we offer, Apologia’s science, math, and worldview curricula ensure your student enjoys a year of exploration and wonder. Following the suggested curriculum path, 6th graders will spend the year learning about the building blocks of Creation, beginning to study the early concepts of pre-algebra, and discovering how they can be a “good and faithful servant.”
Science
Our Young Explorer Series, written by Jeannie Fulbright, was designed to be used in any order, which makes it great for use in families with children of multiple ages. However, a popular choice and the order of our recommended curriculum path follows the order of Creation.
For sixth grade, consider going through Exploring Creation with Chemistry & Physics. By providing your student(s) with a strong foundation of the basics of these more complex concepts early on, they will be much more prepared to take on the more rigorous middle and high school science courses.
📖 Apologia’s Exploring Creation with Chemistry & Physics takes complex and abstract concepts and makes them approachable for curious young minds. Your student will better understand the fascinating world of chemistry and physics and the Master Designer who created it all through exploring the basic building blocks of creation, atoms and molecules, simple chemicals, the laws of motion, energy in its many forms, and concepts of electricity and magnetism.
Math
Have you ever thought about the fact that God created math? He did! So teach your children to see God through their math study with Apologia’s Exploring Creation with Mathematics, Level 6. This curriculum also offers your family lots of fun, hands-on activities while using a mastery approach.
Each of our math levels is designed to align with traditional grade levels, so level 6 is typically the best fit for a rising 6th grader. However, we always recommend using our Math Placement Test, especially if switching from a different curriculum.
This curriculum, by Kathryn Gomes, will give your student a strong foundation in mathematics using a proven method: the Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract progression.
📖 In Exploring Creation with Mathematics, Level 6, students will learn about fractions and ratios, rates and probability, and negative numbers. They’ll also receive an introduction to algebra to prepare them for higher-level math courses.
Units are presented along with fun, hands-on, interactive activities to help students make connections between the information they are learning and the real world so they can see the important role math plays in everyday life.
Worldview
As Christians, we should always be growing in our walk, and a great way to teach this to your children is by having them complete a Bible or Christian worldview curriculum every year.
If you choose to follow our suggested curriculum path, your child will be ready to complete the fourth and final book in the What We Believe series, What On Earth Can I Do?
His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’
📖 What On Earth Can I Do? is a study designed to help your student(s) understand how to rightly relate to God and follow Him with their whole heart. Through engaging lessons and activities, your student will learn what it means to love and follow Jesus and be a “good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:23). Some biblical truths they’ll encounter in this course include:
- God owns all things because He created and sustains all things
- He has entrusted me with certain gifts and wants me to use these gifts for His glory
- I honor God by using my money and possessions wisely
- I glorify Him by investing my time and talents wisely
- My body is not my own but has been bought at a price
- God expects me to care for His creation
- God will reward me for my faithfulness
