From Theater to Family Ministry

Ben Myers, founder of ActorsBible, didn’t set out to revolutionize family devotions. His journey began in the heart of Philadelphia, leading an inner-city ministry that used theater arts to reach at-risk youth.

“We saw that the arts were a great way to fascinate young people and begin to disciple them,” Ben recalls. But after years of pouring into thousands of kids, he noticed a troubling pattern: lasting faith was rare among those without strong family support.

This realization sparked a transformation—not just in Ben’s ministry, but in his own heart.

“When I became a father, I was really confused about how to lead my family,” he admits. Ben found himself grappling with the same questions many parents face: How do I make faith real for my children? How do I lead them in God’s word?

The Birth of ActorsBible

The answer came in a moment of inspiration.

“God whispered to my heart, ‘Ben, cast parts like you’ve done in the theater ministry.’” Suddenly, family worship became an interactive, immersive experience. Each child took on a role—Abraham, Sarah, Lot, even the sheep—acting out scenes from the Bible, singing songs, and asking questions that brought the stories to life.

What began as a creative solution for his own family blossomed into the ActorsBible: an app that transforms the entire Bible into a script for roleplaying, complete with a teleprompter, 360-degree visuals of the Holy Land, sound effects, and accountability tools.

“Dad is the director,” Ben explains. “He can make sure family devotions happen, speed up or slow down the teleprompter, and engage everyone—even the youngest readers.”

A Tool for Families, Churches, and Beyond

The impact of ActorsBible extends far beyond the Myers’ RV. Families across the country are using it to breathe new life into their devotional time. Churches are incorporating it into Sunday services, embracing a participatory model that keeps even the littlest congregants engaged. Homeschool co-ops are staging end-of-year presentations, using the app to teach reading, comprehension, and—most importantly—faith.

Ben’s approach is refreshingly practical.

“We don’t say we have the end-all, be-all solution,” he says. “But we want to help dads and moms creatively reach their families using the scriptures.” The app’s structure—comprising 800 scenes that cover the entire Bible—enables families to journey through God’s story together, one act at a time.

The Greatest Show of All

For the Myers family, ministry and family life are inseparable. Their latest project, “The Greatest Show of All,” is a professional production staged in a renovated 1920s theater in Philadelphia, complete with immersive projections, live actors, and audience participation. The show weaves together 20 scenes from scripture, personal testimony, and a powerful message: the most important stage is the living room, where parents lay down their lives for their families.

“My greatest show of all has played out not on a stage, but in the living room of my home—me laying down my life for my bride, discipling my children, and loving and contending for the Jewish people,” Ben says.

Life on the Road

The Myers’ journey is as unconventional as their ministry. Living in an RV, they travel from city to city, sharing their story and equipping families to take up their roles in God’s narrative. It’s not always easy—there are days of doubt and challenge—but the rewards are immeasurable.

“It’s teaching our kids entrepreneurial skills, ministry, and life together,” Ben shares. “They’re thriving.”
