B.A. Natural Sciences & Mathematics

Mrs. Pennington received her Bachelor of Arts in Natural Sciences/Mathematics from Thomas Edison State University. She has over two years of experience in tutoring high school physics, and advanced mathematics, as well as teaching pre-algebra, algebra 1, algebra 2, and pre-calculus. She was homeschooled, and used Apologia Science throughout high school, along with Saxon math. She has been married to her husband for 6 years, and they have a little girl named, Layla. She has been saved by the grace of Jesus Christ and grows more and more in love with Him every day. In her free time, Katie enjoys photography, teaching Sunday school at her church, Bible study, and enjoying nature.

Description

Apologia’s Live Online Pre-Algebra class eases the transition from arithmetic to algebra and illustrates how mathematics can be used to manage God’s creation for His glory.

Prerequisites: None 
Course Credit: One Middle School Math Credit

NOTE: Mrs. Pennington will be on family leave for part of the first semester. Students will watch recorded classes and complete course assignments during her absence, and her assistant will be available for questions and will complete all grading during this time. Mrs. Pennington plans to return for the second semester.

Course Topics

From the publisher: Algebraic expressions and linear equations are applied throughout a thorough review of operations on integers, fractions, decimals, percents, and radicals. Students will explore relations and functions using equations, tables, and graphs, as well as study chapters on statistics and geometry that extend foundational concepts in preparation for high school courses. Problem-solving and real-life uses of math are featured in each chapter.
