Pros and Cons

I am currently in week 18 of this curriculum and I absolutely love that my squirmy boys have learned the ENTIRE story of the Old Testament. The motions that go along with the story have solidified the overall narrative in their hearts as well as mine. They can get up and move every day in order to practice what they are learning and that is a huge plus to me. My boys are 9 and 11 for reference. Now that I have entered into the second part of the curriculum, however, it's getting to be quite overwhelming. The story starts over at the beginning in Genesis, but gets a little confusing when Job is introduced completely out of nowhere and out of order with the books of the Bible. Also, what I am finding a bit troubling is the sheer amount of content that starts to flood the lessons. For instance, this week there are suddenly 3 brand new bible verses that kids are supposed to learn and write in the same day, followed by a good portion of reading assignments. Here is an example of week 18, day 1: Watch the video for lesson 18 Practice key words and hand signs for Numbers, Deuteronomy, and Joshua Read the book-about cards Read "The Priests and Levites Speak" Read the Numbers, Deuteronomy, and Joshua memory verses Write the Numbers memory verse Write the Deuteronomy memory verse Write the Joshua memory verse It's simply too much for one day. Any ONE of these assignments listed would take up quite a bit of time if thoroughly processed. But listing this much in a day means you are skimming over LOADS of content. This is the downfall of Apologia I have found after using their curriculum for years (we have done at least 8 of their curriculums). I still love Apologia, but the content volume is just over the top.
